Technology: it has become the backbone of our society, but at what cost?

When we think about the relationship between technology and privacy, we are often met with a combination of intense grey areas, constantly evolving regulation, and the need to understand the human elements behind these digital systems. Oftentimes, when you ask a designer about the relationship between tailored user experiences and privacy, you’re met with a different opinion every time.

Passing through the necessary evolutions of our experience with design requires information. This information needs to come to the hands of those with the power to design and implement systems that better reflect the needs of the user.

My collaborative design class hosted a small group of panelists to come speak on campus, and the main topic happened to be The Future of Design. The future of design is a very variable question with answers that can best be described as educated guesses based on the current trajectory. One thing that did come up quite often though, was privacy.
